Any responsible business will have key staff ready to deal with accidents, injuries or illnesses until professional medical help arrives. Depending on how big your business is, and the kind of work you do, there will be an expectation of the number of employees who need First Aid at Work qualifications. The skills that they learn on their First Aid at Work course could make the difference between life and death for an employee a colleague, customer or member of the public.During 2013, the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations were amended, removing the requirement for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to approve first aid training and qualifications. The changes mean that the onus is now on businesses to select competent training providers. We have passed Qualsafe’s rigorous programme of assessment, giving you the confidence that your training programme is in good hands. Qualsafe is the leading UK awarding body for First Aid Qualifications and is recognised by Ofqual.

Our highly-qualified trainers listen to your needs and can develop courses to your specification. This ensures high quality, relevant training. Examples, scenarios and techniques will reflect the kinds of situation your staff are likely to face in real life, whilst also meeting national accreditation requirements. For example, if your business involves working at heights, we can provide training in the assessment and immobilisation of suspected spinal injuries, beyond what is usually covered on a First Aid at Work course.

We can travel to your workplace or you can send delegates to us. Either way, we will accommodate your busy business schedule.

All of our instructors are fully qualified and have extensive pre-hospital experience on NHS frontline emergency ambulances. So, If they teach you a skill like paediatric CPR, they will have done it for real!

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF COURSE BOOKING

Solent Experience Ltd trading as Solent Medical Skills

Please note: We charge a fee of 25% of the course price for course cancellations where less than 3 weeks’ notice is given, a 50% fee when there is less than 10 days’ notice and full fees if cancellation is within 3 days of the course. All other cancellations will attract a 10% fee. A client cancellation is only deemed effective when received in writing by Solent Medical Skills, otherwise the learner will be considered a no-show and full fees will be charged.

Some courses delivered by Solent Medical Skills carry pre-requirements or pre-requisites i.e. the learner must possess particular qualifications in order to join the course. Where there is a prerequisite associated with a course, Solent Medical Skills will indicate this via the course details on the website. It is the learner’s responsibility to ensure all pre-requirements are met, to ascertain relevant details prior to booking a course and to provide Solent Medical Skills with sight of certificates in advance of the course commencing. If a learner attends a course without providing evidence of prerequisites, they will be deemed a no-show, will not be able to take part in the course and full fees will be charged.

Very rarely a course may need to be cancelled or postponed. Solent Medical Skills shall be entitled to cancel a course where we need to do so due to circumstances outside of our control. Solent Medical Skills shall have no liability for losses or costs which you may incur due to such cancellation but we shall refund any booking payment or offer an alternative course date.

Solent Medical Skills is covered by Trainers and Training Company Liabilities insurance in respect of contracted first aid training but otherwise no liability is assumed by Solent Medical Skills for injury, death, consequential injury, damage, accident, cancellation, delay, irregularity or inconvenience incurred by any participant. Solent Medical Skills declines all responsibility for losses or additional expenses due to delays or changes in aircraft, trains, coaches, ships, ferries or other services, sickness, weather, strike, war, riots, quarantine or other cause whatsoever. No representative, agent or other employee of Solent Medical Skills is authorised to commit Solent Medical Skills to any admission of liability whatsoever and Solent Medical Skills will not be bound by any statement or representation unless it be in writing and signed by a Director of Solent Experience Ltd.

Solent Medical Skills cannot accept responsibility for participants’ property.

Where Solent Medical Skills are required to perform services on client premises or locations, the client agrees to provide a safe working environment for Solent Medical Skills personnel and delegates. The client must ensure that Solent Medical Skills personnel and participants are informed of all relevant health and safety requirements of the location at the outset of the event. The hosting client must have in place suitable employer’s liability and public liability insurance at all times that services are performed by Solent Medical Skills at the client’s location.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions restricts or excludes our liability to you for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. Subject to the above, we shall not be liable for any losses, damages, costs, claims, expenses or liabilities whatsoever arising out of or in connection with the acts, errors or omissions of third parties. In no event shall we be liable for any loss of profits or indirect or consequential loss or damages whatsoever incurred by you in respect of any claim made against you by any third party in connection with your use of the Solent Medical Skills services. Other than in the case of death or personal injury caused by our negligence, our aggregate liability to you shall in no circumstances exceed the fees paid by you for our services, which give rise to such liability in respect of an occurrence or series of occurrences.
