Solent Medical Skills | Pre-Hospital Medical Training

This 2 day module is available to all successful FREC 4 learners who want to add a drugs module to their skill set. They will however not be able to administer some of the taught drugs unless their local employers protocols allow it and the drugs are covered under a patient directive from that companies clinical director (usually a GP).

This course teaches drug use to an IHCD Technician level and is the same module that is taught on the diploma level 5 FREC. Those going onto level 5 will not need to complete this module before their course.

The drugs covered on this course include the following:

Activated charcoal

 Adrenaline 1:1000

 Aspirin

 Cetirizine hydrochloride

 Chlorphenamine

 Clopidogrel

 Dexamethasone

 Glucagon

 Glucogel

 Glyceryl trinitrate

 Hydrocortisone

 Ipratropium bromide

 Loratadine

 Midazolam

 Naloxone hydrochloride (Narcan)

Salbutamol

There is a course workbook that learners have to complete in their own time post course before certificates are issued.
