TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF COURSE BOOKING

Med Zero pre-course recommendation:

We recommend you read Ambulance Care Essentials which is available from Amazon or from the Royal College of Paramedics website. This is available as a paperback or an e-book. Whilst this is only a recommendation and not a requirement, to get the most from the course this pre-reading will help the learner get up to speed much quicker in the classroom phase.

FREC 3 pre-course recommendation:

We recommend you read Ambulance Care Essentials which is available from Amazon or from the Royal College of Paramedics website. This is available as a paperback or an e-book.

FREC 4 mandatory pre-course requirements:

Those wanting to come onto a F4 must already hold an in-date F3 certificate or alternatively have acceptable APL, i.e. you are an army CMT1 etc.

For those holding a F3 – you must complete 118 hours of practice-based hours from the end of your F3 course. This can be made up of shifts as a F3 at events and/or other medical courses attended or taught by yourself.

Military or NHS mandatory annual medical training needs adding if you have it and this can be logged by yourself. the log (PDF) will state where you worked as a F3, who for and what the event was with a running total etc.

If you hold a F3, you must also complete the mandatory pre-course reading (Ambulance Care Practice) before you join the course. This reading (20-30 hours also goes towards your 118 hour total).

It must be logged in a PDF with dates showing pages read on what date and with a running total. Note: other APL routes do not need to do the 118 hours or this mandatory reading.

Your responsibilities:

It is the learner’s responsibility to ensure all pre-requirements are met, to ascertain relevant details prior to booking a course and to provide Solent Medical Skills with sight of certificates in advance of the course commencing.

If a learner attends a course without providing evidence of prerequisites, or completing mandatory preparation or pre-course reading, they will be deemed a no-show, will not be able to take part in the course and full fees will be charged.

The learner is also responsible for ensuring they complete the 3 post-course workbooks (timed from the start date of your F4 course) and no refunds are available to any learner who fails to do so.

Our responsibilities:

Solent Medical Skills is committed to the highest standards of practice and to maintaining the integrity of professional qualifications in pre-hospital medicine. As a provider of accredited training, we maintain strict standards to ensure that qualifications are only awarded to those who have demonstrated achievement of the relevant learning outcomes.

In all suspected cases of learner malpractice or cheating (e.g. plagiarism, falsification of evidence or collusion) we will notify the awarding body and work in partnership with them to investigate.

Penalties for learner malpractice will be determined in consultation with the awarding body and with consideration of the seriousness of the offence and may include: disqualification from the unit or the full programme; bans, i.e. further and future registration of the learner will not be accepted for this or other qualifications.

It will also mean that certificates may not be issued. Any learner who is found to have cheated will be deemed to have forfeited any course fees, as will any learner who provides false information about pre-requisites.

INFORMATION ABOUT BOOKING

What happens if we cancel a course:

Very rarely a course may need to be cancelled or postponed. Our company may need  to cancel a course for reasons out of our control. Generally, we will refund any booking payment or offer an alternative course date but shall have no liability for losses or costs which you may incur due to such cancellation.

In the event of a civil emergency, disaster or extreme weather conditions (including but not limited to war, civil disturbance, armed conflict, terrorist attack, government action, fire , flood, snow, pandemic or epidemic) requiring the cancellation of a course, Solent Medical Skills cannot offer a refund.

We recommend you consider taking out insurance to cover losses or expenses incurred in the case of such events.

Our insurance and liability:

Solent Medical Skills is covered by Trainers and Training Company Liabilities insurance in respect of contracted first aid training but otherwise no liability is assumed by Solent Medical Skills for injury, death, consequential injury, damage, accident, cancellation, delay, irregularity or inconvenience incurred by any participant.

Solent Medical Skills declines all responsibility for losses or additional expenses due to delays or changes in aircraft, trains, coaches, ships, ferries or other services, sickness, weather, strike, war, riots, quarantine or other cause whatsoever.

No representative, agent or other employee of Solent Medical Skills is authorised to commit Solent Medical Skills to any admission of liability whatsoever and Solent Medical Skills will not be bound by any statement or representation unless it be in writing and signed by a Director of Solent Experience Ltd.

Personal property and parking:

Solent Medical Skills cannot accept responsibility for participants’ property. There is free parking at the classroom.

Data protection:

When you provide your personal details to us, we will use these to provide the information and services that you have requested. We may also use these details for internal record keeping and to improve our products and services.

As a provider of accredited training, we will use the email, telephone and postal contact details provided to contact you with regard to any matter arising from your booking, for example to provide you with course details and assessment/marking information.

We may be required to share certain details with our awarding body, e.g. Qualsafe, in order for your qualification to be completed.

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to any third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so. We may periodically send promotional emails about course updates, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting using the email address which you have provided. If you would prefer not to receive such emails, please let us know.

Courses delivered on hosting clients premises:

The host agrees to provide a safe working environment for Solent Medical Skills personnel and delegates. Our personnel and participants must be informed of relevant local health and safety requirements at the outset of the event.

The host must have in place adequate employer’s liability and public liability insurance. This needs to cover the period that services are performed by Solent Medical Skills at the host premises.

The awkward bit:

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions restricts our liability to you for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

Subject to the above, we shall not be liable for any losses, damages, costs, claims, expenses or liabilities whatsoever arising out of or in connection with the acts, errors or omissions of third parties. In no event shall we be liable for any loss of profits or indirect or consequential loss or damages whatsoever incurred by you.

This is in respect of any claim made against you by any third party in connection with your use of the Solent Medical Skills services.

Other than in the case of death or personal injury caused by our negligence, our liability to you shall in no circumstances exceed the fees paid by you for our services. This includes events which give rise to such liability in respect of an occurrence or series of occurrences.

Please note our fees when cancelling or changing dates:

• 25% of the course price for course cancellations where less than 3 weeks’ notice is given
• 50% fee when there is less than 10 days’ notice.
• 100% fee if cancellation is within 3 days of the course.
• All other cancellations will attract a 10% fee.

A client cancellation is only deemed effective when we receive it in writing. If this is not done, the learner will be considered a no-show and full fees will be charged.

Where a delegate fails to complete a course, any course fees still outstanding must still be paid.

If a learner requests a change of course date giving more than 3 weeks notice, there is usually no charge for this if we can fill their place. If however a learner requests a change of date a second time, there will be a 10% charge. A third change means a 40% fee and a  fourth change is a 60% fee.

Your cancellation after a date change where we could not fill your place means the learner will forfeit the full course fees.

Learners who do not complete the full course through no fault of Solent Medical Skills, the full course fee will be forfeited. If you start a course  and do not complete it, there will be no refund.
