Solent Medical Skills medical RIB boat attended the incident soon after it ditched and were very pleased to find the Hamble RIB lifeboat was dealing and had the two occupants safely on board. Our crew had been training nearby when the mayday was heard over the radio.

It was great to see lifeboat crew who received their FREC medical training from Solent Medical Skills in action and they were able to assess both patients and found no injuries. They were then taken by lifeboat to a SCAS ambulance at Hamble.

The Cirrus SR22 aircraft ended upside down in the water after it had a problem at about 14:40 and plumeted towards the sea, dropping off radar contact. The planes emergency parachute was deployed and this gave the airframe a slow descent and no doubt saved the lives of the crew.
